Coral Cachaca is a Brazilian sugar cane based white rum. An essential ingredient
for Caipirinha (pronounced ki-pee-ree-nya). A refreshing cocktail for the coming
Summer months.
Recipe for Pure Joy
Caipirinha (pronounced ki-pee-ree-nya) earned it's international status when
it was included in the official list of the International Bartenders
Association. It's recipe is extremely simple and it's fans warrant that it is
ecologically correct, since it uses only natural ingredients. It is versatile as
well, allowing variations that do not alter the essence: the incomparable
flavour of a good cane spirit. There are those, for example, who add a pinch of
salt.
Here is the classical recipe:
INGREDIENTS
 | 1 thin skinned lemon |
 | 2 teaspoons of sugar |
 | 1 measure of Cachaca (the size of which varies - only practice and tasting
will make a good caipirinha) |
 | Crushed ice. |
Cut off the ends of the lemon and cut it into thin slices. Out a few slices
of lemon and the sugar into a small glass. With a wooden pestle, crush the
centre of the slices, without pressing the skin (this will stop the drink from
being bitter). Add Cachaca, mix and add the crushed ice. Serve in a glass
decorated with a slice of lemon, partly cut, to be placed on the rim of the
glass.
